Insight FYI: Contact Filters & Segments
Insight has always (regardless of Classic or new) been designed to report on activities, and although customers may have tried to use Contact Filters and Segments as filters in custom reports, this is not supported. Contact Filters & Segments are dynamic, and if used in Insight, the date range of the Contact Filter or Segment would not match the date range prompt in the report. In other words, the results would be inaccurate.
Example of something that resulted in unreliable & potentially inaccurate data: show all contacts in “Segment A” and all activity associated to those contacts.
What is possible within Insight, is to report on segments tied to activities. As an example: “Email Opens grouped by Segment”. In that example, when the email was sent, the campaign and segment the contact belonged to at the time of the send is known and recorded in Insight. This works for both static and dynamic email content.
