Multiple contacts on the same email address in Eloqua

I am having an issue with several clients at the moment around bringing in multiple contacts with the same email address.

An example is John and Jill Smith as the name using the same email address.

One of these is integrations is CX Sales App/CDM the other is integrating using flat file.

With the CX Sales/CDM I can import the record without an issue and then had the idea of creating a secondary name field.

Does anyone know of a way to split the name automatically using updates rules/programs or would it need to be done automatically?
