Eloqua / SFDC Integration "Get Deleted Contacts" Import

We're wondering if anybody has experienced this and/or knows of a solution!

We've integrated our Eloqua and SFDC CRM instances. We have our integration app set up to run the "Get Deleted Contacts" import regularly. The goal is to clear out the SFDC Contact ID from the Eloqua contact. That works just fine! However, here's the issue: if the contact does not already exist in Eloqua... a NEW CONTACT is created, in Eloqua instead of it being ignored, for a contact we don't want, that was just deleted from SFDC.
