OCI: How to Run a Script During Boot in Ubuntu Linux 22.04

in Linux 3 comments

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Ubuntu Linux x86-64

Goal

There is a need to run a custom script to execute a set of commands during the system boot process in Ubuntu 22.04

Solution

Recent Linux systems including Ubuntu Linux use systemd to manage system services and also the boot and shutdown sequences.

To execute a custom script during boot, a systemd service unit file must be created, that will then execute the custom script during boot. The unit file tells systemd what needs to be done, at which point in time and whether there are any requirements before it is executed.

Howdy, Stranger!
