Sorting by Date & Recognizing Date in Managerial & Narrative Reporting

Summary: Is it possible to sort by date in report in Managerial Reporting? Currently, the dates do not seem to be recognized as number values and we want to utilize a dynamic field that will identify past or future dates based on a certain value such as the end of a fiscal year (ex. June 30, 2024).

Content (required): Image posted of small two line grid to show date values. For example, ideally 10/21/2020 would come first based on the sort.
