Automatically Assign a Bill Management User to a User Category

We have a requirement to automatically assign an external Bill Manager user registered through the Bill Management Registrations page to a unique user category as opposed to the Default user category to better control notifications.

As a temporary workaround, we're having to manually re-assign each registered user to the new user category, and re-trigger the password reset email. Besides building an integration, is there any way to control which user category these users are assigned to during the registration process?
