Static/Reference Variable does not work for embedded reference doclet report

I have a Report Package which has a management report as an embedded reference doclet. I want to use static/reference variables in this embedded reference doclet but I'm unable to add them. Below is a screenshot from them embedded report as a reference doclet.


Any suggestions?
