supplier and Supplier sites across BUs

Summary:

We have a business unit in US and SWISS and there's a supplier which operates in both the regions. We are planning to just define supplier in US and then have a Site for SWISS BU? My understanding is that should work given Suppliers eally should be a global entity. Can someone please confirm if I am thinking right?
