Is it possible to increase the size of the column to store more than 35 characters?

Summary:

 As the length of character has increase from bank statement lines, after importing bank statement lines into Cash Management tables using integration, system does not allow to store more than 35 Character for Recon_Reference column.  

Kindly provide more information on  if and How Is it possible to increase the size of the column to store more than 35 characters ?
