3 Month Moving Average - Multiple Years

I am trying to calculate the average for the last 3 months and would like it to be a rolling average across years. I would like to add this an existing trend rule.

I looked up @MOVAVG, but am unfamiliar with this command and wasn't sure if that could cross years.

I also found the below code in an unused business rule but am also unfamiliar with it and was hoping for something not as long/complex. Any suggestions?
