Does the reference code allow double-byte characters?

Content (required):

1.Enter the sandbox and start Application Composer

2.Select any object and create a Choice List (Fixed).

3.Create a Lookup Type.

When creating a choice, entering double-byte characters in the reference code will not result in an error.

However, I'm wondering if it's okay to set double-byte characters even though it won't cause an error.

Are there any deprecations for double-byte characters?
