Unable to Disassociate serial number of serial status completed from work order

Summary:

In fusion manufacturing, we have work orders for serial tracked manufacturing. Under serial number tab serial number has been generated, material issued, and operation completed for one of the serial numbers. Serial number status changed to Completed. Now all materials were returned, operations were reversed. Product was returned automatically. Serial status changed to Associated and delete button was also enabled. But while trying to save the record after deleting getting the following error - You can't perform the action because some of the selected serial numbers aren't in Associated status.
