OCI: iSCSi Connection Errors Caused Delays in Booting the OS

edited Nov 2, 2023 10:15AM in Linux 3 comments

APPLIES TO:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Oracle Linux

SYMPTOMS

Many iscsid connection errors occur while rebooting Linux OS. These errors delay boot time:

Oct 23 12:34:34 test-server1 iscsid: iscsid: connect to ip:port failed (Connection refused)

CHANGES

Few of the iSCSi attached Block Volumes were removed.

CAUSE

When an iSCSi Block Volume is being detached from an OCI instance. The detach iSCSi commands of that Block Volume has to be run in the Linux OS before the detach is done from the “Block Volume” tab of the instance.

If not done, the iSCSi service will try to connect the non-existent Block Volume during every OS reboot until it timeouts, which increase the boot time.

Howdy, Stranger!
