Object Defaulting Rule Type/Field Modification Rule type - Location and Department ?

Hi experts,


we are trying to implement an autocomplete rule that defaults a Location field.

I've tried using Field Modification Rule type but it triggers only when a field is modified. Is there a possibility to default field once the transaction has been submitted (on Submit button). Can Object Defaulting Rule type be feasible?

For example:

If Location was initially set to A, but during a Change Position action, a new position is chosen, it automatically changes to the location linked to the Department of the new position through a pop-up synchronization. Is there a possibility to create a rule that restricts this behaviour when performing this specific action or better default the location to A even after the submission of the transaction ?
