I wanted to upgrade my account but it was disabled

I logged in to upgrade my free tier account as I was quite happy with the service so far. However, after logging in I find that everything looks disabled.

I search my inbox and I find an "Action Recommended" email from Oracle saying that the account incurred in abusive activity. The reason: an Open DNS Resolver. I remembered that to test the ARM based instances I installed a Pi-Hole setup, that was shut down after some testing.

So my free tier account was taken down for experimenting without giving me any chance to correct this activity. This was completely arbitrary and what I would call an extreme measure to disable an entire account for a single offending instance that was shut down at the time of the notice. I'd have expected the instance to be removed as it was a fist offence and only take action on the entire account after repeated abusive activity. Even better to let me know about the issue in advance so I can take proper actions and avoid any sanctions.

Howdy, Stranger!
