When creating a new version of a prescreening question, does the Question Code automatically change?

Summary:

I recently updated a prescreening question to a new version since I had to remove one of the question responses from the drop down list. When I did this, all of the Controlled Prescreening Questions that were dependent on the response to the Controlling Question no longer appeared when testing.

This Controlling prescreening question asks "How did you hear about us?" and if the candidate selects "Employee Referral" as a response, a text box appears asking for the name of the employee that referred them (this is the Controlled Question). However, after updating the Controlling Question version, any Controlled Questions tied to the Controlling Question did not appear as expected. I looked at the Controlled Question in the backend, and it looked as if the Controlling Question Code changed to a serial number. I did not change the Question Code when I updated the Controlling Question, and we renamed the
