Unable to associate Subscription and coverage items to Options in a Configurated Item

Summary: When associating a subscription or coverage type item to a configurated item (ATO model), system has no option to select options or components. The association is for the entire configuration (every component on the model). Is there a way to add coverage only for the components (Options)?
