Transaction no. not appearing while trying to apply it to a receipt

Hello


We are facing an issue, wherein when we try to search for a transaction to apply it against an unidentified receipt, then system does not show that transaction no. We have already verified that the transaction no. is in the system, the transaction no. is not applied against any other receipt, and it is open status. What could be the possible reason? Is this a system error?
