update element termiantion rule after element entries are added to employees

We have acountry for which payroll interface si implemented and payroll is not run in hCM,

An element was created with termination rule of last entry date as LSED ,last montha nd element entries were added,now our requirement has chanegd and we want to set the termiantion rule to "final close"

Can we correct the element defintion directlya nd update teh last enrty date directly?

Will that impact any thing?
