Questions about Global Search Bar functionality

Hello,
I am trying to understand the functionality of the Global Search Bar on the home page. For example:
- Will search results be dependent on Area of Responsibility and/or security roles?
- If not, can we restrict access to specific areas for specific security roles?
- Can we customize the Global Search bar results? For example, user searches for 'Learning', but we are unable to determine from the search results which 'Learning' link in the navigator will take the user to the Me tab vs My Client Groups.
- Is it expected behaviour that using the 'Search for' link results in an error? My observation is that the user needs to select the keyword in Recent Items or Navigator for the search to be successful.
