Creating Contacts via eloqua Application REST API version 1.0 vs. 2.0

In the Eloqua REST API docs [1] for the "Application" API, creating a 'contact' resource (/api/REST/1.0/data/contact) via POST is available for the v1.0 API. But there is no create (POST) documented for the v2.0 endpoint (/api/REST/2.0/data/contact).

Is this accurate, was contact creation removed in v2.0 of the API?

Are we supposed to use the bulk API instead for creating Contacts?
