Calculate Retroactive Costing - how to start using it when the client is already live
Summary: . My client went live on Cloud Payroll in 2020. We have not used the Retro Costing process at all since go-live. Since go-live, any retrospective changes to costing details have been dealt with manually by issuing journals in GL.
We now want to start running Retro Costing to automate the whole process.
So I need to understand exactly how the Retro Costing process works in terms of how we control how far back it looks for retrospective changes.
Let's say we start running Retro Costing in Feb 2024, with a Start Date of 01-Feb-2024. Oracle Support have told me that the Start Date does not control how far back it looks for retro changes. So it could pick up retro changes with effective dates BEFORE the 01-Feb-2024. The Start Date simply controls which periods the retro results will be generated for. So for whatever retro events it finds, it will only generate retro costing results for completed payroll periods between the Start and End date parameter values.
