Does Sandbox Changes prevent Screen Display Changes of Product Updates

Hello,

We would like to know if a page has been customized by sandbox and then an item is added due to a product update, the page will display those additional items properly?

For example, suppose a page has been customized to display pop-ups, change item names, and so on. When the page is updated (e.g., an item is added) by the quarterly update, will the customization take precedence and the added item will not be displayed on the page?

Also, when an item is added, will the customization no longer function, and will the page as a whole need to be re-created?
