How to Create new field with drop down menu

Can anyone show me how or point to me to the steps to create a new field . In that field I need to have values that can be selected from a drop down menu . For example : When someone goes in to create a new position, we want to have a field there that says, " Support Team " and from the drop down they can select from a list of predefined values .
