tracking contact page visit

I would like to verify the underlying conditions for tracking external page visits.

1. Tracking script on the homepage with one form submissions:

  If the Eloqua form source is not embedded, and data is submitted to Eloqua, is it essential to include code that sends the GUID to Eloqua?

2. Redirect links within emails:

  With tracking script insertions and zero form submissions on the homepage, does visiting a page through an email allow tracking of which contact visited the page? Additionally, even without form submissions, is it correct that continuous page visits are logged in the activity log?
