OCI: Accessing Samba Share From Windows Instance Fails with Error "Windows cannot access \\172.x.x.x

SYMPTOMS

Samba Configuration was done on OCI Linux compute instance, While trying to access the samba share from OCI windows compute instance present in same subnet getting below error

Windows cannot access \\172.x.x.x\samba

You do not have permission to access \\172.x.x.x\samba. Contact your network administrator to request access.


CAUSE

This issue can be a result of SELinux being active in enforcing mode and the SELinux permissions have not being setup correctly on samba share mount point


SOLUTION

To verify the current SELinux state and set it to permissive mode:
