Can two different subscriptions have a same subscription number

Summary:

I want to know if it is possible to have same subscription number in two different subscriptions. One subscription is imported and other is generated automatically based on the document sequencing rule.

Let's say that my OSM has a Automatic Document Sequencing Rule starting from XYZ-1000. Currently I am at XYZ-1099. However, I have imported one subscription with Subscription Number XYZ-1100.

In this scenario, when I go ahead to create a subscription manually, will the system pick the next available number (XYZ-1101) after skipping XYZ-1100 or will it duplicate and will create another Subscription with Subscription Number XYZ-1100.
