Is it possible to Unreserve funds on a Journal when the period status is 'Future Enterable'

Summary:

We are trying to delete some Journals as the users have typed an incorrect date in the spreadsheet journal template. The import process has attempted to Post the Journals to Future Enterable Period but errored. The Delete button was greyed out for us as the Journal was reserved in a 'Future Enterable' period which could not be opened until April. We were able to Delete the Journal once the Period in which the funds are reserved was opened and the funds were unreserved.

However in many cases it is not possible to wait to open the period to delete a Journal. Is there a way to Unreserve Funds or Delete a Journal when the period status is 'Future Enterable' and cannot be opened ?
