Oracle Linux: Installation of compat-libstdc Fails with "Unable to find a match: compat-libstdc"

edited Apr 15, 2024 9:53PM in Linux

An application on Oracle Linux 8 requires the "compat-libstdc++-33" library, however when installing through the available yum repos:

[root@hostname~]# yum install compat-libstdc

This system is receiving updates from Unbreakable Linux Network or Spacewalk.

Last metadata expiration check: 2:31:15 ago on Thu 25 May 2023 02:11:13 AM EDT.

No match for argument: compat-libstdc Error: Unable to find a match: compat-libstdc

This issue is due to the compat-libstdc++-33  library not being provided in the Oracle Linux 8 repositories.

If an application you want to use requires compat-libstdc++-33, check with the application vendor of the application, as it is not provided with Oracle Linux 8.

Howdy, Stranger!
