Edit Payroll Time period Start Date and End Date

Our customer has created payroll definition with incorrect First period end date. So, after generating Payroll time periods for the payroll, we wanted to edit the start date and end date of the payroll definition. But system is not allowing us to do that. We could not be able to submit our timecards if we did not have this corrected.
Kindly please help us with the request.
