Lock or suspend 1800 users in bulk / mass and unlock same users at a later time

We have a requirement to lock or suspend 1,800+ users temporarily during an inventory count to prevent transactions. The users will need to be unlocked after a specific date. Is there a way to do this in bulk or what would be a suggested best practice? Can we lock, suspend, inactive or perform some other function against the users without creating a large number of statements to achieve.

I have searched for an answer on customer connect, but I have not located anything that provides a solution except creating 1,800+ statements to process a list of users which seems as time consuming as updating the users manually from the Users page from the Security Console. We would prefer not to adjust user Roles, if possible.

Howdy, Stranger!
