Scheduling for non-shippable line

Summary:

We have a requirement whereby customer would like to have a non-shippable line to go for scheduling. Is this recommended functionality. We see that there is a line selection criteria in standard schedule task to by pass scheduling if line is non-shippable. Has any one came across such scenario?
