OCI - How to Recover Ubuntu Instance SSH Access

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version Ubuntu 22.04 and later

Goal:

This CCC document is intended to explain how to recover Ubuntu instance's SSH access if not possible to edit GRUB

Solution

Step 1: Stop the problematic instance and detach boot volume from it

Step 2: Attach it as a block volume to an Oracle Linux Test instance and mount it

Step 3: Once the boot volume is attached as block volume to the Oracle Linux test instance, perform the steps below:

Run "lsblk" before and after attaching boot volume. In this particular case, sdb1 is the boot volume partition to be mounted :
