OCI - How to Install mysql-shell v8.4

Oracle Linux 8 or later version

Goal:

This document outlines the steps required to enable the ol8_MySQL84_tools_community repository and install the mysql-shell version 8.4.

Solution:

The “mysql-shell-8.4.1-1.el8.x86_64” is available in the “ol8_MySQL84_tools_community” repo.

By default the “ol8_MySQL84_tools_community” is not enabled in Oracle Linux 8.

The repository can be enabled using the following:

Add the following text to /etc/yum.repos.d/mysql-ol8.repo

[ol8_MySQL84_tools_community]

name=MySQL 8.4 Tools Community for Oracle Linux 8 ($basearch)

baseurl=https://yum$ociregion.$ocidomain/repo/OracleLinux/OL8/MySQL84/tools/community/x86_64
