Purge Recruiting Campaign Data functionality

Hi team,
I'm understanding the External Candidate Data Purging is not possible to schedule currently, correct?
Reading the "Implementing Recruiting" documentation, the Chapter 31 - Candidate Data Archiving and Disposal explain about the "Purge Recruiting Campaign Data":
You can configure data retention duration for recruiting campaign email metrics.
Result: The database is cleaned up after the number of days you entered in the campaign email metrics setting.

I'm not sure to have get the point: anyone can explain the topic more easily?
