We want to replicate some changes to config files under /etc which have been made on the active DBaaS nodes. However the comments about the file being managed by Chef has caused some concerns that changes could potentially get removed if we make them.

Can we safely edit Linux config files under /etc on the passive DBaaS VM Data Guard nodes? At least some files under /etc are managed by Chef from comments within files i.e. we can see this within files:
