Is there a way to stop a salary change from being entered if over the max salary range?

We are having an issue with our managers entering increases that are not correct and even though they go for approval some managers are not looking at the details of the increase and just approving them. Wondering if there is a way when the updated salary amount is greater than the max salary range if the system would not allow the change to be saved at all?
