language alias selection for a reference doclet when used in report package?

Summary:

A single report can be ran manually against any language alias available in your Chart of accounts, but do you really have to double your reports when used as reference doclets as no alias selection option seems available in the report package?

I have a client that uses Narrative Reporting to deliver two Annual Reports, one in English and one in German. For this they use two different Word reporting packages, one per language.
The general text they type directly in the Word document in the language of the reporting package obviously. The document is enriched  with some plain numbers (e.g. inserted variables). But if reference doclets are used (reports, the real power option in this context), then they had to copy all of their reports to the other language. Obvious consequence is a double maintenance / refreshing of all those reports.
