Replace check box at review dispatch list is creating a new maintenance asset-24B functionality

"Perform Additional Functionalities in the Material Transaction User Interface" new feature in 24B, we are attempting to conduct a test transaction.
When we try to replace an adhoc component from the review dispatch list by using the return transaction type and checking the replace checkbox. However, the system automatically creates a new asset with an autogenerated asset number and attaches it to the asset for which the maintenance work order transaction was performed. A test case of the scenario in the work document, with thorough screenshots, is attached.
Would you kindly explain to us how this functionality functions in practice?
