Detect scan versus manual entry

Summary: Detecting method used: Manual entry versus scanning.

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information): We have an activity string field in a form, and the users can enter a value manually in the field or they can scan a barcode to populate the value. We would like to be able to know which method was used to input the value (manual entry versus scanned).
