How to Generate a Unique Reference Number for Each Report in Oracle Fusion HCM

Hello Oracle Community,

We have a requirement to generate a unique reference number for each report generated in Oracle Fusion HCM, specifically for documents like letters that need tracking and reference.

After some research, it appears that configuring a sequential reference number in BI Publisher (BIP) could be a possible solution. The idea is to create a custom field in the BI report data model to display a unique, incremented sequence each time a report is generated, like "HRO/16/123," which increments on each run (e.g., "HRO/16/124").

Has anyone implemented something similar or can suggest an efficient setup for this? Are there specific configurations or any potential limitations we should consider?
