Lead scoring delays - any recommendations?

We are seeing issues in our program where after an action is taken (form submission), lead scoring is delayed by the time they are routed to SFDC. If we hold a wait step in our programs, we run into an issue with existing lead data syncing back and overriding the new changes.

Any recommendations around speeding up lead scoring so this is not an issue?
