Purchasing approval rules based on Requester Supervisor

Summary:

We have a need to send an FYI notification to an individual if a purchase requisition (or Change Order) is routed for approval and it will ultimately go to a specific person for approval. This person could be the Requester's direct supervisor or their manager's supervisor (etc.). We currently have approval rules that route using the supervisory hierarchy based on the Requester's Job Level and the amounts. That works great. But if Person A is included in the approval workflow, we want to send an FYI to Person B.

I originally tried using Requester Level x Supervisor which worked as long as Person A was definitely in the approval workflow. However, for requesters who do not directly report to Person A, but still need a supervisor's approval, it is still sending an FYI to Person B because Person A is still the Requester's Level x Supervisor even though they're not needed in this particular approval workflow. If there was a way to identify the Requester's direct supervisor, I may be able to get this to work, but don't know how to do that. The Requester Level x Supervisor appears
