Can AutoApply apply an amount up to the open invoice amount if reference amount is greater ?

The Scenario is as follows:

The AutoMatch Rule Set is set to 100% on Transaction Weight.

The Customer is providing Remittance Reference information of:

Transaction Number: 12345

Amount: 307.40

The Open Invoice is as follows:

Transaction Number: 12345

Amount: 301.00

When AutoApply runs, it is not applying any cash to the invoice. It is showing as a recommendation with the exception as "above transaction threshold". Is there a way for AutoApply to overapply based on the Remittance Amount or is it possible for AutoApply to apply up to the Open Transaction Amount (301.00) and leave the remaining 6.40 unapplied or on-account? To me, it appears the AutoMatch ruleset is not the issue as the transaction numbers are matching and finding the correct transaction.
