Autogenerate username error

Hi all,

Until today when I create a new user (through recruiting module) when I converted the candidate into pending worker he changed his password via link and the system generated a username for him, which it had as its format "name.surname", but now the username format is a 5 digit number.

What happened? How can i fix it?
