OCI: leapp Upgrade Fails Due to Incorrect Directory Structure

SYMPTOMS

The leap upgrade fails and upon checking the leap-report.txt, the following is seen:

[ 1234.399375] upgrade[773]:             error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/tmp;673b1107: cpio: File from package already exists as a directory in system
[ 1234.402403] upgrade[773]:             error: filesystem-3.8-6.el8.x86_64: install failed

CAUSE

There is a directory created at /usr/tmp.

This is not standard, Oracle Linux 8 requires that this be a symlink, not a directory.

  1. Move or remove the directory from the system, if the directory contains data, then use the “
