OCI : OS Image Version not Updated On Instance Details Page after Leapp Upgrade

Symptoms:

The Instance image version is not updating on Instance Details Page in OCI after Leapp Upgrade from Oracle Linux(OL)7 to OL8.

Cause:

This is a known issue with the OCI.

The Console User Interface (UI) is fetching the OS version from the underlying image used to create the instance.

Solution:

This is an expected behavior as The Leapp utility is used to upgrade the OS version only. It is used to simplify in-place upgrade to a major Oracle Linux release.

After the completion of an instance upgrade, the instance retains its Oracle Linux base image on the Instance Details page of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console, for example, Oracle-Linux-7.9-2020-11.10-1. A custom tag(
