Is there a way we can use embedded reports for custom error messages

We have a requirement to have an error message to validate entries in a standard field in Learning module. As far as we have checked, there are no autocomplete rules available in the page (Offering activities page). So we are trying to see if we can use embedded reports to achieve the same. Has anyone any experience in using embedded reports to give a warning or error message based on user entry in a field? The logic can all be built within the report, we should be able to achieve that. The question is can we have

a. a message only pop-up(like a warning message), or
