FBDI journal import reference5 field number of characters limitation

When trying to import an FBDI file for General Accounting, I am receiving the following error: 'Reference5 is exceeding the limit of 240 characters.

Record 327: Rejected - Error on table GL_INTERFACE, column REFERENCE5.
ORA-12899: value too large for column ??? (actual: 244, maximum: 240)

My question is that the file is coming from a third-party tool. Is there a way during the Load Interface File for Import process to take only the first 240 characters of the reference, without having to process the file in OIC integration and remove the extra characters?
