Can employees request absences for the next year while using their current year balance

How can we address a situation where employees are using their current year’s leave balance to request absences for the following year, without considering those future requests in the balance calculations? Specifically, is there a standard functionality in Oracle Applications to ensure that leave balances are accurately projected, reflecting deductions for future requests?

Additionally, when employees request absences spanning December into January of the next year, does Oracle Applications handle this by charging the leave to the next year's balance, deducting it accordingly, carrying over the allowed balance from the previous year, and recalculating the total available balance?

Please clarify the standard behavior in such cases.
